Councillor Cathy Martyn, the Cabinet Member for Housing and Public Safety has thanked all those residents who report discarded hypodermic needles to the Council. and has urged all residents to act as quickly as possible when they see them.
“Carelessly discarded hypodermic needles are a health hazard to us all, especially children,” said Cllr Martyn. “They are also a threat to our pets.”
“Whether you are a resident or a visitor, you can take action immediately if you see a needle in public place. You can report it by:
- – Going to the Council’s website www.swindon.gov.uk and logging into your My Account. (You will need to register for an account first.),
- – Calling the Council on 01793 44550,
- – Or, coming to the Council Offices, Customer Services, Wat Tyler House, Beckhampton Street, Swindon.”
The Council aims to remove any needles reported within 4 hours during the day, but it might take longer if they are reported after 5pm and before 7am.
