A Conservative Government would introduce a radical plan to reward residents who recycle, it's been announced today.
This follows an extremely successful pilot scheme run by the Conservative-controlled Windsor Council where points were earned through recycling and spent in local shops, including Marks & Spencer.
The scheme brought about a staggering 30% increase in recycling, with the average home earning £130 in shopping vouchers a year!
The scheme is funded through the savings Councils make on reducing the amount of waste being sent to landfill.
This positive scheme is in stark contrast to the clueless Labour Government who have tried to drive up recycling rates by scrapping weekly rubbish collections, and are even considering harsh 'bin taxes', where residents will be made to pay extra for all their waste.
Cllr Justin Tomlinson, "The Conservative plans are fantastic. If we are serious about reducing waste, then working with residents to encourage recycling will make a real difference as we have seen in Windsor.
"In addition, it is time the Government forced retailers to cut the huge amounts of unneccessary packaging that we are left to deal with.''
