Unemployment figures in North Swindon have almost doubled in 12 months, as the effects of the economic crisis hit home.
The number of people out of work rose a staggering 99.3 per cent, from 692 in November 2007 to 1,379 in November 2008.
Cllr Justin Tomlinson, "This hopeless Labour Government needs to support our plans for the National Loan Guarentee Scheme.
This addresses the core problem of this recession; the drying up of credit that is denying businesses cash flow. By making sure money can flow from banks to businesses again, our scheme directly addresses that.
In addition, I wonder on Brown's current regional photo blitz, whether he is really talking to people who matter? For example if he came to Swindon would it be for a photo shoot or would he actually speak directly to Honda workers? Then he would understand exactly what Labour's recession really does mean to the man on the street.
As a local resident and small business owner myself, I am seeing first hand the real impact of Labour's recession."
