SWINDON SPORTS FORUM AWARDED £6,351 BY AWARDS FOR ALL.

SWINDON SPORTS FORUM, a group set up jointly by Swindon Borough Council and Sports Clubs to support Sports Clubs in Swindon, has been awarded a grant of £6,351 by AWARDS FOR ALL.

Having asked sports forum members to tell them what help they needed for their clubs the steering group put together a bid to A4A. They were successful and the money will be spent over the next year (2008/9) on:

Ø      Support and Training Workshops covering;

o       Help with funding applications

o       First Aid

o       Working with disabled sports performers

o       Child Protection

o       School to Club Links

Ø      Club Accreditation and Development

o       A pilot with 12 sports clubs to achieve S.S.F. Accreditation awards leading to a Governing Body ‘Sports Mark’.

o       Offering 4 Support Workshops

o       Mentors or Buddies to visit and help

Ø      A Sports Club Database

o       Centralise club details

o       Invite Clubs to join S.S.F.

o       Offer them the benefits of membership

As a result of the Awards for All grant, we can help Sports Clubs in Swindon to improve overall participation in Sport; to improve the quality and safety of their provision to the public; to maximise the availability of safe and qualified clubs to the people of Swindon.
