Hi-Tech Signal Box Set To Open At STEAM
Having a go at being a signalman will soon be a reality at STEAM, Museum of the Great Western Railway.
A new Signal Box Interactive has been installed at the museum, in Kemble Drive, Swindon, for both children and adults to enjoy, and will be officially opened on Thursday, 28 February.
"This is a fantastic addition to STEAM and has been made possible by the generous support of the Swindon Railway Heritage Trust," said Councillor Justin Tomlinson, Swindon Borough Council Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Recreation.
"All members of the family are sure to have brilliant fun with this new feature that is totally unique to STEAM. Once inside the simulated signal box, you get to handle the mechanical levers and see your successful manoeuvre on the hi-tech screen."
Admission to STEAM costs £6.00 for adults and £4.00 for concessions and children under 16. Family tickets are £16.00 (two adults and two children) and £19.00 (two adults and three children) Under 5s go free and there are discounts for Swindoncard holders.
