Shadow Housing Minister Michael Gove MP was in Swindon on Friday. Michael, who was a deputy editor of the Times newspaper until his election to Parliament last year was a guest of Robert Buckland.
Michael was able to see at first hand the current condition of Cavendish Square, and was shown the plans for the imminent redevelopment by Cllrs Rod Bluh, Steve Wakefield and David Renard.
The group was also joined by our newest Conservative Councillor, Peter Mallinson, who is Chair of the Parks Regeneration Project. Local Conservative Parks spokesman Graham Cherry explained his ideas for regeneration to Michael.
"I am delighted to see that Swindon's Conservative administration is taking action to make improvements to the lives of local residents. Make no mistake, we care very deeply about the future of communities such as Park North and South." said Michael.
Robert Buckland said: "Michael Gove is making an outstanding contribution to Conservative politics, and wants to work with our Councillors to develop policy. We look forward to working with him on housing issues in the years ahead."
