14/08/06 - Lib Dems Hit New Low In Swindon

Swindon, Lib Dem Votes Crash to 14 Year Low!

Research into Lib Dem support in Swindon has shown a double whammy of despair for the Lib Dems, their votes in the May local elections was the lowest since May 1992, and they now only have 3 of the 59 Councillors.

Cllr Michael Dickinson, a former Lib Dem Councillor, who crossed the floor to the Conservatives, "14 years ago, votes for the Lib Dems in Swindon was at a rock bottom 14%, 14 years on it's back at 14%.  Right across Swindon the Lib Dems have lost voters to the Conservatives the only Party offering a positive agenda of improvements for local residents.  The message is clear, don't waste your vote on the Lib Dems."
