06/04/06 - Dishonest Lib Dems In A Muddle

Local Lib Dems are claiming they voted against the plans for the Council Tax 2005/06.  In typical half-truth Liberal style, they forget to mention that they did not support any of the effeciency savings, and during the Council Tax debate highlighted many areas they wanted to see money being spent.  All this ADDS to the Council Tax.

Cllr Justin Tomlinson, "Either the Lib Dems are trying to trick local residents into thinking they support low Council Tax, which any local resident who spent five minutes in a Council Meeting would see is utter nonsense, or they simply have no idea how finance works."

"It is no suprise the Lib Dems have been almost wiped out in Swindon, with now only a handful of Cllr's left, with further loses expected on May 4th."

"Things hit an all time low when their leading Councillor, Micheal Dickinson (Central Ward) crossed the floor to join the Conservatives as he felt the Liberals were out of touch on finance."
